Penned by the extremely talented Rosanna Spence for Saga Exceptional, the sub title reads, Dazzling designs that prove your garden doesn’t need full sun to shine. It is a collection of UK based landscape architects including The Society of Garden Designers SGD (UK) of which I am a full member and boasts 17 designs that work in places of shade, 2 of which are Peter Donegan garden designs.

The Perennial Garden wins Silver Medal at RHS Flower Show Cardiff 2019.
Designed by Irish garden designer Peter Donegan and constructed by Burnham Landscaping, the contemporary garden was created to help mark the garden charities 180th anniversary. It is the first time Perennial have exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, and the first time Peter (or any Irish designer) has had designs accepted to the prestigious flower show.

Hort Week Magazine’s Matt Appleby was the first to break with the news of the Peter Donegan designed Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show Cardiff Garden for Perennial.
It seems I missed out on the before I started this front garden project but did manage to get this sort of before image, just as works had commenced – pictured below.
I have always felt that gardens, the better ones are those where the journey to completion and its creating put simply, appears and far more importantly feels effortless. In this gardens making, it was nothing but a real genuine honour and I literally smiled every day of its making.
And though that may sound a little Hugh Grant or some such actor in some pile of pants girlie film [apologies], here’s what I noted the day of its completion which maybe words that better.
Genuinely honoured that I get to do what I do as my ‘work’. Horticulture for me, it was always about the journey, and me and you. 🙂
