....
....

UPDATE: 15th Jan ’09

names are now officially being taken for the first garden group gig.The list below was as an expression of interest…. please go to the post below and get yer name on 😉

http://blog.doneganlandscaping.com/2010/01/15/the-garden-groups-first-adventure/

So it was sometime last year that the suggestion came in to set a garden group up…. and I did… but not a whole lot happened with it for so many varying reasons… but thats another story and this is 2010.

...
...

It’s a new year and it’s time I got things grooving in this department…..

With that in mind I am setting the date for our first gig on Saturday 30th January or the 6th February 2009. [recent email tells me to await confirmation from venue and for our guide/ host – however this will be more exact/ finite in the next day/s or so….. bear with me 😉 appreciated in advance]

I have a few places and people in mind as a first meeting…. but you reading this may have somewhere that the group could/ should visit – if so go ahead and make yourself famous.

Other than that it is a case of numbers…. If you are interested pop your name down below and watch this space for more info.

My thinking is that it is [for the moment] would entail a personalised tour of a grounds or gardens [that would be interesting!!!….] especially for us! Depending on the how the first goes and suggestions come in then maybe we can see if and how direction changes. Of course no money would be required and maybe if weather was good enough you may bring a packed lunch and we could have a picnic…. I’m waiting for confirmation at this moment in time but should have an answer back in the next few days….. again it’s a little of a numbers game as well…. slightly vague [?] but gardens made good craic is the idea….

As I said in the first post

are you interested in the greeny garden outdoors kinda thing but don’t want to fall asleep within the first 7 minutes seconds ….? ;)

what if we became the hippest bunch of jimmedy crickets ever to cross the green line ?

A bit like the Dublin Twook Club crossed with the photobloggers, but different-ish ;)

All of the great bits of green and horticulture – except in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt [if thats what you like to wear ;) ]

gardeners charity poker classic in ballyboughal

are you going...?
are you going...?

***Tickets can be bought behind the bar in The Village Inn from Kevin or drop by my house or give me a call 🙂

From Yes folks 7 tables of 7 people will battle it out for the title of Ballyboughals best poker player Friday 16th October.

The gig won’t take place in O’Connors pub exactly as the people wont really all fit in… rather it will take place in the old school opposite… but systems are in place that a lounge person will run back and forth constantlty from one to the other with your beverage in case your taste buds dry out 😉

The reason… well of course the trad session is on so when you finsh your game of cards… simply walk the far side of the [very narrow] road and have a listen to some of Ireland finest musicians.

Sandwiches will be provided on the night and the trad session [as always] is free in.

All money raised will of course go to my trip to South Africa with the Niall Mellon Township Trust. Click here to see how much I’ve raised so far.

Never been to ballyboughal [just outside Swords btw] here’s how to get here

Got an idea, suggestion or recommendation….? leave a comment or send an email to info [at] doneganlandscaping [dot] com

my thinking is that:

  • this costs zero money
  • whether qualified or you simply ‘like that flower’ – it’s all good
  • we meet about once every 6 weeks
  • its as much about fun as it is interesting
  • everyone has a say in what we do

what do you need:

  • an ability to smile
  • a likening for the colour green in any shape or form

after that – pop an email to info [at] doneganlandscaping [dot] com or leave a comment below.

If the interest is there – great stuff ! If not – I tried and I’ll probably go for a pint on Friday evening 😉

UPDATE:

update on the garden group

leave a comment and say hi 😉

creating a garden at the smithfield festival ’09

Do you remember Urban Garden Smithfield that took place last year…?

There are a lot of elements involved in it. But from my point of view…. it’s obviously got to to be about gardens.

This year it going to be a little different.

This year I’m building a garden. Of sorts. 😉

I can’t really tell you what it’s going to look like when it’s complete.

But I can tell you some of the specific elements it will involve.

First up…. I’m gonna take some of the ‘waste’ you would find here…

Second… I’m going to use some plants supplied by a good friend of mine…

Then I’m going work quite closely with the lovely people from here….

Before you ask…. sometimes I even wonder what goes on in that head of mine 😆

But… if it gets people thinking about ‘waste’ and it makes you smile… it can’t all be bad?

When is this all taking place….

This Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th August ’09 in Smithfield square. I’ll put more information up on this weblog when I get the full details.

it’s also a free event.

Why not drop along and say hello 😉

More details on the day at Dublin.ie website
