focail.ie…. technology for a gardener #8

The entire list of companies for ‘technology for a gardener’ is/will be here.

This is piece #8. This is focail.ie.

Surprisingly…. maybe, Focail.ie did win at the Irish Web Awards in 2008 for Best Irish Language website. Very nice. Well deserved. Bulaidh bós.

You can find out more about the focail.ie team here. I do know Forais Na Gaeilge are involved in the project…. and may I say if you are thinking of doing anything Irish with your company…. they are amazing and great help. Do call them. I did and surprisingly, with their help, I became one of the top 50 companies to operate through use of the Irish language!

More recently, we had Lá na Gaeilge where for one day I and so many others wrote for an entire day, online, through Irish. I even did it on my blog. But I try. I try through Irish. I try without making you have to. I do my bit so to speak. Right down to the very simplest of things. In the Irish Blog Awards the best of Irish blogging even has it’s own category. Check out the finalists here…..

My point is that I am not a fluent Irish speaker. I’m not bad. I need the likes of focail.ie. And as it is a piece of technology that I use it so very easily becomes technology for a gardener #8.

Lá Fhéile Phádraig… agus lá gaeilge

Lá Fhéile Phádraig

Lá Fhéile Phádraig

céad. níl mo gaeilge go hana mhaith ar fad… ach nur a léim an píosa seo as Damian agus Concubhar Ó Liatháin as iGaelige, bhím spreagach píosa [beagání] as gaeilge a scríobh. Tá sé Lá Fheile Phádraig ach tá sé Lá Gaeilge freisin.

Dúirt Concubhar ar mulley.net

Ná bí buartha. Tá tú san áit cheart. Is é seo blag Damien Mulley ach, ar mhaithe le h-achainí speisialta, tá cuireadh tugtha aige dom Concubhar Ó Liatháin, údar iGaeilge, cuireadh a thabhairt do bhlagadóirí i ngach áit páirt a ghlacadh i Lá na Gaeilge a bheidh ag titim amach ar Lá Fhéile Phádraig.

agus dúirt sé…

Ní ghlacfaidh sé ach cúpla noiméad ach tabharfar faoi ndeara é – agus cá bhfios ach go dtabharfaidh na meáin traidisiúnta súntas do. Níl aon chostas ar a leitheid de bheart ach d’fhéadfadh sé an oiread – nó níos mó – a bhaint amach is atá deontais is maorláthas thar na glúintí.

Bhuel, scríobh mé ar mo blog faoi rudaí as na gardín, faoi an taobh amuigh, agus rudaí acraíocht choigeartaithe agus tírdhreachú… Nílim abálta piosa as gaeilge a scríobh? mar níl an blog seo ‘blog gaeilge’. Tá an blog seo blog tirdhreachú; faoi na rámhaille as Peadar O’ Donagáin? Ach tá an lá seo Lá Fhéile Phádraig *agus* anois Lá Gaeilge.

So… Ba mhaith liom cúpla focail a scríobh. Cúpla focail as gaeilge. Cúpla focail, rudaí a táim abálta a úsaid in aghaidh an lae. I mo lae agus i mo lae as Peadar O’ Donagáin agus deich focail [beidir nath cainte?] as Peadar O’ Donagáin Tírdhreachú Teoranta. Beidir ceacht beaganí as gaeilge. 😆

anois, tá cúpla focail agat

....

....

Lá Nua did an article on our company recently. As a result, I got a great email from Eoin O’ Riain in Galway who says:

Molaim sibh as an suíomh álainn – tá nasc curtha chugaibh agam ar an leathanach

http://anghaeltacht.net/gno/index.html Níl mórán seans go ndéanfaimís gnó le chéile.

This hasn’t got so much anything to do with horticulture, as such, but it always nice to get great feedback and know that the extra effort made by the good people of my office is appreciated.

Eoins hompage is really worth a look.

Go raibh míle maith agat [agus Eoin]. Slán go foill, Peadar
