Nominated For The Irish Blog Awards 2010

Last year this weblog was nominated for the irish blog awards 2009. And this year somebody nominated this green blog again 😉

As you are most likely well aware there is a long way to go and so I shall [appropriately] quote myself from last year once again…

That said – awards or not, it is because of *you* that I write and to be simply nominated is reason enough for me to smile

To quote The Awards Blog

please thank the sponsors for once again investing in the Blog Awards and making it happen. Why not link to them and thank? Please congratulate your felllow nominees and read some of the many new blogs that have come along this year and tell others of them.

And so I say, thank you to the IBA10 team of organisers judges and behind the scenes, all of the sponsors and in this case iQ Content. Also as Damien says and rightly so, to the so many amazing blogs in this list a virtual ‘pat on the back‘.

Take a leaf through…. there’s certainly a lot of amazing blogs and people in there. 🙂

irish blog awards ’09

The brainchild of the genius that is Damen Mulley, the day was Saturday 21st February, the venue was the Cork International Airport Hotel, it was of course the Irish Blog Awards ’09.

Peter Donegan Landscaping weblog had been nominated and loglisted but we didn’t make the finals. That said, my intention for blogging was never to receive an award. And although I wouldn’t mind the accolade 😆 when I read the finalist listings, those who did make the final cut and the eventual winners – I realise I have such a long way to go and so much to learn from those who are so good at what they do. A sincere bulaidh bós to all it was an honour to be in your company.

After that Huge praise and applause to all of the sponsors; To all of the bloggers I met and spoke with [and didn’t]: legends. A mention to the lads Darragh and team and John who did the videos; to Rick O’Shea our host; A note of applause to Eolai whos art decorated the walls of the hotel and once again to all who made the night so enjoyable. – [If I have left anyone out I apologise sincerely – let me know and I’ll edit the post].

The list of winners are all here. Do take a look. They are so very much worthwhile reading and deserved of the acclaim. Well done once again to all.

longlisted for the irish blog awards…

nominated badge.ai @ 150% (CMYK/Preview)as this is my first time to be nominated for the blog awards… the process was a little new to me and ‘maybe’ to you. I have written about it before – but that was because I was nominated. Now, I have been longlisted.
As a brief by the way there are two official blog awards logos – so I have chosen this one by Davy for this post. Thanks Dave 🙂

Here’s how it all goes: First one gets nominated. Then one goes to the long list. From the long list the nominees are whittled down to a short list of just five and from there the winner of that category is announced. A blog is only allowed to be nominated [eventually] in one category. The winners will be announced on February 21st, on the awards night.

To quote my last post on the Irish blog awards I feel sums up how I still feel. Thank you so very much once again.

That said – awards or not, it is because of *you* that I write and to be simply nominated is reason enough for me to smile :)

As I said above I have a choice of category and must chose one or have it chosen for me. But, I really am just so happy to be a part of it. And as I am a newbie – I think I’ll let the judges decide that for me.

Here are the longlists of the two categories. One again many thanks to the sponsors. Have a leaf through – they are all, really, good blogs.

to my absolute delight i found out that my weblog has been nominated for the Irish Blog Awards 2009.

That said – awards or not, it is because of *you* that I write and to be simply nominated is reason enough for me to smile 🙂

To you who read it, to those who nominated me and to those who were there from when I couldn’t turn on a computer. Thank you.

With regard to the categories. I am nominated for Best Specialist Blog sponsored by iQ Content and also for the Best Blog of a business sponsored by RedCardinal.ie. Well done to both and all of the sponsors. Congratulations to Damien Mulley too the brains behind what is always an amazing and once again sold out event.

Here are the nominees for both categories containing a lot of my own personal favourites. Well worth a browse.

thursday garden guest time…

over at twitter the suggestion came up to have some guest writers on the doneganlandscaping weblog. People seemed quiet pleased with the suggestion ;). So we made a few rules. It had to be relevant to horticulture of any nature, type, size or style and it had to be personal… Titled ‘gardens – what I like about….’ This was the green-day for those who generally wouldn’t consider themselves so.

The offers came in unusually very easy and so every Thursday 10 guest writers will write ‘their’ little piece with their photographs of a moment they had with something that photosynthesised. Just remember it your post and your happy thought…. enjoy!

[ps. your deadline is 3 thursdays before your date… don’t forget ;)]

The 10 writers are:

That’s the list for this year…. I’ll do another in the new year – but for the moment don’t forget your deadline and happy gardening, garden memories or whatever made you smile at some point whilst surrounded by a little green 🙂
