Private Estate Garden
Location: n/a
Landscape Architect: Peter Donegan MSGLD |
Peter Donegan Garden Design
Design Assistant: Elif Öztürk
Detail:

- A most shaded least used section of the garden, north facing, achieving the least amount of sunlight to the rear sizeable still, part of the home.
- A reason to be drawn there, of eloquence, to suit the elevated area defined as the requirement and suited to clients family and lifestyle. And, when not in use, a reason (again) to catch one’s eye, draw one out and make one wish to sit within the private space.
- The solution: a one off designed galvanised structure with open glass roof, private cinema area, luxurious (but fittingly so) seating, surrounded by mature planting to dapple the canopied feature, creating a sense of privacy to those who sit within and nestle the complete garden, within the overall landscape.
- Add to that pre cut natural stone, tailored to fit the exact dimensions minimising on site costs to build (zero cuts required for eg), allowing for pre engineered concrete pads to structure, protection from the elements and – an escapism (is that the correct choice of word ?) from daily routine and complete relaxation.
On a mildly separate note Phil and Kate did this beautiful episode of The Underground Podcast – in all good podcast stores, naturally. It’s a great listen and I just adore how here Wright O’Bara describe our conversation together.
