Heritage Week 2011 – Slí na Sceacha

hedgerow walk heritage week 2011

I meant to put this post up sometime ago but I got caught up making gardens and generally just busy doing the day job.

My compliments however go to Heritage Week 2011 and the crew behind the scenes.

The Heritage Council assumed the role of coordinator of National Heritage Week from the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government in 2005. Since then the week has grown into a highly successful programme of over 1000 events which take place during the last week of August each year.

Last year for Heritage Week you may remember I visited Boyle Abbey. But this year it was the turn of Dublin and I of course chose the nature walk through the lands of Corduff in North County Dublin.

Many turned up because they heard locally, but it is fair to say more because they had read the brochure. Some had heard of the Hedgerow Society, few of us knew the land we were walking in North County Dublin actually existed.
