No this not a postcard. This is the view from what is known a Ladies View, In Killarney. It is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to in my life.
People say Ireland can be expensive – well this is as easy as a picnic, if you chose to do it that way and it is one of the few things in this country that the government cannot put a tax upon. Personally, I would [and will] sit looking at this for days.
I made it here because I took the road less travelled. I got lost, intentionally – and was so happy that I did. From Killarney town it took me approximately 4 hours in total to get to Macroom in Cork. To put in context it only took me about one hour on the way over
The reason it took so long is that I stopped everywhere.
To be honest I found it hard trying to pick out just one photograph of my journey. I will go back. Sooner than I thought. When you do – don’t bring a sat nav. You’ll thanks me for it. I promise. Instead swap it for a poetry book.

This was the journey from Conavee to Killarney…..

Absolutely gorgeous!! I’ve only been to Ireland twice, but one day my friend took me on back roads to amazing places like this and how I treasure the memory.
Thanks for posting these wonderful shots!
Amazing pictures Peter!
Hi Krista,
do you know where in Ireland the back roads where – either or you need to come back
Thanks Yvonne – really appreciate and it is a really amazing spot. I hope I can find decent camping near-ish there now
I do, Peter.
It was past Westport,County Mayo way out in the country between amazing mountains/hills covered with wildflowers and sheep.
A Chara Krista,
a beautiful part of town
A little bit different to Killarney, but in saying that a part of Ireland I love dearly and have visited many times. Used to go camping there when I was younger!
Another on my list that I need to get back to
p.
What a splendid spot to go camping!! It would be perfect.
I’ve never been to Killarney, but after your photos I simply must! I have to be in England for business in a few months, so perhaps I can extend my stay a bit, drag one of my brothers along with me, and go exploring in Killarney.
I should get a job with the Irish Tourism board
don’t forget your tent !!
